The funny thing about drawing with pen/marker is that when you make mistakes, you're forced to learn from them because you can't fix them. As a result, at first your works look REALLY messy and yuggy. If you mess up, those mistakes will STAY there on the drawing unless you fix them digitally. Same for leftover lines and strokes you're not using anymore.
But over time, you start training your hand to be more confident with your lines and have them do things they're supposed to, instead of guessing and inching along all unsure.
...As an aside, all my doodles are in ballpoint. It looks like pencil, but it ain't. I'm sorta training myself to work on pressure before going (back) to pencil and tablet. I used to draw ridiculously light and I envy the folks who can do amazing stuff with pencils.

Anyways, I'd really prefer going on a tablet if I'm going to do anything with a "pencil" like thing. But I should really try to get in the habit of making some doodles on paper to keep the drawing going. Or on MSPaint, I really couldn't care less.
The mouse is a pain in the ass to draw with at times, though.

ah, good ol constant improving, Just keep diligent in your practices and studies, and stepping out of your comfort zone in drawing, and you will constantly improve.
