You're the most deranged, twisted and cynical person I've met....I like you.

This art is impressive. I like how you do a lot of different styles and manage to refine their look.

I'll try. I'll have to find a model, though, I was surprised how hard they are to find.

I'll tell ya one thing I like to do with life drawing studies. Go to a public place with a sketch pad, and just start sketching people doing regular stuff. I dont mean detailed life drawings, but pure gesture and contour drawings. really helps with speed and improving on animation posing

This is an idea I'd really love to try but I'm afraid of being caught staring and not knowing what to do about it. XD (By the way, happy birthday karr ;D)

I once drew a girl with THE prettiest eyes at the mall.
She asked if she could take it home. I didn't want to give it to her, but... she had really pretty eyes.

And as for gestures... I'd really like to improve on gesture drawing, for sure, it's one of the biggest things I need to improve, but I don't know how to approach it. I mean, I know what gestures are SUPPOSED to be, I just never could do it very well.

I've found that if you're DESPERATE to practice and surrounded by people who don't like cooperating (ex: my family immediately leaving upon seeing me trying to draw them, as if they're camera-shy), pictures are the next best thing. Of course they don't compare to drawing the real thing, but if you're desperate...

There's a gesture drawing website that generates images of figures in random poses. Forgot what it was called. Which is ridiculous, because the website had an obvious, hard-to-forget name.

EDIT

The site was "Posemasters.com". Good stuff, that posemasters.

Some more portraits. Practice with crosshatching.

At first, I tried to approach Clint here with a more methodical approach to crosshatching.
It looks fine at first glance, but ultimately, I thought it looked a bit off-putting; as if a High School student in art class tried to shade in an outlined picture.

So I experimented with a more... "organic" approach using Mr. Dean...
Remember when I said that I was going to find one mentor a month? Well, I came nowhere close to executing his technique, but from trying to emulate it, I came out with a not-too-bad-to-look-at picture. It's clearly better than the other crosshatching pictures I've drawn.

Not to shabby, if I do say so myself.

Do what I'm doing; pick a mentor from the internetz and try to emulate their techniques. It's a great way to learn.

Spike Spiegel and Faye Valentine.
A little practice in Anatomy. Female, particularly.

Drew this while listening to that translated version of "Real Folk Blues".
