ok I've been using Flash MX... but I've noticed a lot of people using Flash 6... what's better? also, how can I update if I'm using an out of date program

You can always uninstall the program and then re-install it.

I downloaded the demo for flash 8, but even though I haven't used it much, I don't see very many differences between MX and flash 8. they seem very...the same. But I guess 8 has features that mx doesn't have. I just haven't really found any yet.
Oh, as far as re-installing it, it doesn't work. I tried it. I always look for loopholes, they have every base covered (almost).

Flash 8 Pro is the one you want, not just Flash 8. The difference between MX and 8 Pro is that it has the filters so you can blur and drop shadow and all that good stuff. Located in the properties box.
