If you're a girl who likes to play games, then just play games.
I don't fully understand why some girls wish to announce to the world that they're a girl who plays games. I don't remember a time when being a gamer was really something to brag about.
Instead of calling themselves "Girl Gamers" or "Lady Gamers" how about just "Gamers?"

I recall a pretty suave comment post from another place, she said someone asked her if she was a "gamer" or a "girl gamer"; and then replied, "I'm a girl happens to play video games," and the guy who asked her shook her hand.
Ultimately, it's just a title, beneficial or malicious I don't care (well, maybe the malicious I would). As long as it isn't bothering anyone it's fine by me.

In my personal life, I have never encountered these types, not even at conventions.
I'd say any gamer who finds pride in buying a game, playing it and clocking it can be irritating. Like fondler said, it's nothing to really brag about...Getting laid is something to brag about. Gaming, it's a hobby, a fun one at that.
Be proud when you find the game called life and and experience it until you reach the final level, then have loved ones read your credits.

...Why am I under this impression that this probably could've been avoided if guys didn't make a big deal about girls playing video games in the first place?
=P Tempted to compare this to how in America, we at times call black people "African Americans", while in other countries, like France... They don't call their black people French Africans, do they?
if guys didn't make a big deal about girls playing video games in the first place?
Us silly boys need to stop hitting on girls while playing our crazy vidja gayemz amirite?
XD Maybe, but I will recall a couple incidents while playing TF2. I asked a question or said something over the mic and few people on my team would exclaim, "You're a GIRL!?"
I'm pretty sure that TF2 has a LOT of active female players for an FPS, especially now, so it was surprising for me to hear them being surprised. Not to lump-sum, of course, since they were aware that "there are girls on the Internet" and playing TF2, but they were still all "whoa".
=P And the concept of girl gamers or gamers who happen to be girls didn't come up in any of the conversations. It's like all the times I find out that my friends are gay.
("You're GAY!?"; cue continuing the conversation "as usual" with a bit more consideration about trying not to be offensive.)

A thought occur to me during work, which is why not the girls talk about it, instead of us guys giving second hand opinions. Again, the Girl Gamers Livejournal community had a good discussion on the subject in the past, I think Gamingangels did too, but at a higher caliber.
And to be honest, I'm surprised the thread is still intact.
And I think Andre's post (Reply #24) confirms why this thread was made.

It used to work for me when I was playing UT online. They thought it was bullcrap when I said I was a ten-year-old girl and it was a boost to my little kid ego. Only, I think that lot just happened to be really crappy players because once some guy joined and said he'd only let me get ahead to be nice to me, before pummelling me into the ground.
Anyway, I read an article on SMH Online a couple of weeks ago where they'd made a list of "girlfriend-friendly games". Most of them were absolute rubbish. Everywhere else they make a point of not making a point about it. Girls make up a substantial percentage of the gaming population now (playing "real" games, that is, not that pinkified dressing up crap or what have you). It's not such a big deal anymore.
It was made to be one of those flashing neon signs.
" If you're a girl who plays video games, the only words I want to hear you say, are the same as the guy's. I don't care if you have a vagina, nor I care if you play video games, but if you use titles, you become annoying.
Annoying people are fucking annoying. Shut it. "
There you go. Advice for life. Don't try being something more then others and yes giving yourself titles IS acting superior.
You don't see me going to a XBL game going all.
" I have a cock and I play video games, please don't hit on me you silly bitches. "
Thur ya' go. Playing video games is about having fun. Once you've-oh , everyone's been saying the same thing, what's the point.
:l
