It's been announced/confirmed. What are your thoughts? Any suggestions for the developers?

I haven't played since II, and...my being horrible at all fighting games aside...

I couldn't make heads or tails about the plot. Who were all of those people? Why were they fighting again? Like, fighting to win a sword? What sword? I remember some sort of demon as the last boss.

Never fear, I too am horrible at fighting games.

The plot... that's basically it. They're fighting to get a sword, the other sword, or both.

In III, all you really missed out on was character creation (which sounded cooler than it actually is), and an expansive story mode (which wasn't too overwhelming). They took out Team Battle (which SUCKED), and they added in a secret final boss. The game was overwhelmingly broken, and a lot of the styles were crap. The only real good thing was that they brought back Siegfried and Nightmare as separate characters.

In IV, you didn't miss out on much. They nerfed story mode back to just progressing through stages until you get an underwhelming ending. They only added two characters in, there were 3 last bosses, and the gameplay is even more broken than before. They added in 3 Star Wars guest characters (yeah, Star Wars, WTF), and 6 guest characters drawn by other artists who all had cloned styles. They upgraded character creation, adding a lot more variety, and the clothing you wear gives you different stats. They nerfed the style selection, taking out all the generic styles and leaving you to choose from the base character styles.

I hope V learns from these mistakes.

Hey! I liked Soul Calibur IV... but then again... it was the only Soul Calibur game I owned... lol, but yeah... the Star Wars characters were just... stupid, and did not fit at all into the universe. I also liked one of the secret clone characters... but mainly because she was designed by a manga creator I really like. And I also liked the character creation mode, even if it isn't as expansive as it should be.

There. Translate what they say there. From my rough translations, all I can really get from them is saying stuff like "Soul Calibur is back" or stuff like that.

Yeah, Google says also.

But I don't really trust that, because, Darkstalkers was also meant to come back and it all started with a Twitter post.

And that was like. 2 years ago.

I wasn't even aware Darkstalkers stopped. Then again, I didn't really keep up with that series.

But yeah, there're concept arts for Soul Calibur and Soul Edge, as well as a few character concepts. Unfortunately, I lost the links to these.

Wait... Darkstalkers was supposed to come back? Fuck... I would of liked to see that. And I'm sure that if they really are making a new Soul Calibur, we can expect to see a teaser within a few months or so.

All in favor of them bringing back Team Battle, say Aye.

If Team Battle is anything like it is in the Vs. Capcom series, then hell yeah. I'd love to see that.

I dunno what it was like in the VS. Capcom series (I'm one of the rare few who hasn't played them), but this is what it is: Basically, you can have a team of 2-8 characters (or 1 if you prefer, but that's no team). You choose the characters, and its recommended you put the characters you're better with towards the end of the list. After that, it's basically you fight, when a team member dies on either side, the next person comes out, and so on and so forth. It's basically a longer version of vs. mode, but I found it more fun, especially when you have no idea who's on the other person's team.

Oh. That does sound interesting. It's nothing like the Vs. Capcom series, then, since in those games, you can switch to whichever character's on your team, at any time.

Yeah, it was the coolest mode, and then for some unexplainable reason, Namco took it out in Soul Calibur III and IV. A good majority of fans (me included) want it back in SCV.

Well... I think there was something similar included in Soul Calibur IV. It was in the Tower of Lost Souls mode, and some battles in story mode.
