Aramek has adopted a new best friend. « Thread Started on Apr 18, 2011, 10:29pm »
Hey everyone. Sorry I've been so inactive over the last few weeks. The roomies and I have moved to a new place that, finally, allows us to adopt a dog. Well, I'd been scouring local and not-so-local adoption agencies since January, trying to get a feel for how they operate, what I can expect from them, all that good stuff.
We found a dog, just happened to be in my same city. The roomies liked him the best, and he seemed like he needed a good home.
This was taken when I saw him for the first time. He's smaller than I was expecting from the pictures, and, from what one can only assume was a hard lot in life, was very scrawny.
He'd been saved by the rescue on the day he was due to be put down by the pound, and had been with his foster mom for less than a month. They estimate him to be about 2, however, he's probably 3-5 years old, and we're working on filling the poor boy out.
Well, in case you didn't know, Aramek is a bit of a charmer. (Only morons use CHA as a dump stat!) What would normally be a pain the in ass adoption process, which included all three of us to be present to sign paperwork, (we work differing hours), was simply reduced to "Just fill out the contract and you can take him home today!"
For a poor, scrawny, Shepherd x Whatever mix who's had a bad life, he is one of the most playful, fun, and loving dogs I have ever met.
And, you know what?
I think we're gonna be alright. ^_^

I have these and more at my photostream! I have been practicing my new camera like mad! Mystic, we've had our cameras, what, a month now? I've taken over 1000 shots already, and I keep wanting more. So, as the weather gets nicer, expect more action shots with the zoom lens at the dog park!

He's surprisingly affectionate.
Loves fetching his ball, brings it back over and over again, and looooooves to "geev keeses." He wakes me up early because he hears an errant sound somewhere outside of the apartment and woofs at it! But, last night, he slept so well, got up when I did, and was full of hugs as I was getting ready for work.
Also, I can hear him bawling when I leave the apartment.

Awwwww!!! I'm so HAPPY for you! It's like you just adopted a child or something.
Nice shots man, but as probably the worst film major ever, I wanna see some more variety in your pictures! Close-ups are awesome but I wanna see some wider shots (and the rest of the dog).
Still, looks like the camera is living up to your expectations

Aww, he's very sweet!
I'm glad you went and adopted a dog that needed a home, I can tell you now that Baron is going to be great - just from seeing the photos.
I rescue, rehabilitate and train abused animals and either I end up adopting them myself or I strive very hard to find them the right home - so I'm really glad to see that Baron's clearly gotten the right home for him!
Aramek, I have to agree on the discussion as the forum mascot/forum pet though.
