| | About Snugglebum... « Thread Started on Mar 10, 2011, 8:39pm » | |
Hi, I'm a new voice actor willing to give up his voice for the greater good Voice Acting Clubers everywhere.
Regardless, a friend of mine had his IP banned from this site for doing something stupid while under the influence of peer pressure. He made a fake machinima audition thread for a silly machinima idea called Snugglebum the Conqueror. His name is ThunderSpam and he truly regrets making that foolish act of disgracefulness. Anyway, him and all of his buddies would greatly appreciate it if a mod were to unban his IP adress so he may still browse these boards. Thank you for your consideration.
Here is the link to the original Snugglebum thread, please unban his IP, it was just a foolish mistake: http://voiceacting.proboards.com/index.c....ay&thread=19704

Moved it to this section since it has more to do with forum policies and whatnot than actual discussion-stuff.
I'll be honest with you, while the formal apology is considerate, undoing an insta-permaban isn't exactly something we do too quickly (especially compared to how quickly we ban folks who make accounts solely to troll/flame/spam/etc.)... The reason behind this is that we tend to handle situations like these on a case-by-case basis involving input from as many mods as we can get.
I personally would like to know why they did something like that in the first place if they ever wanted to use this community again.
Let's see if we can get a few extra thoughts on this from the rest of the staff...

Helpful.

| Most auditions held were Brawl machinimas, 9 out of 10 of those are quite poorly conceived, the thread made fun of that, doesn't exactly seem like something one would do out of "peer pressure," but regardless, it's spam which stirs up more unneeded nonsense than is needed. Whose to say this friend of yours won't "succumb to peer pressure" again and do the same thing?

Someone regrets making a mistake that got them banned. That doesn't exactly sound off any sympathy alerts.

See the rules for how to post an audition thread are up for a reason, and as is a lot of people choose to just flat out ignore them. Obviously people know the risks of making audition pages like that, and if they choose to still run with it, then they should be prepared to accept the consequences, pure and simple.

He should've known better than buckle under peer pressure for something we take semi-seriously (from some serious career standpoints) at the very least, though i'd really pity the people who took that thread serious.
No sorry, pity is the wrong word regarding silly people.
I personally feel that if he was truly sorry, he'd come apologise himself to the staff instead of sending a friend, because if that was me i'd find that slightly disrespectful, no offense to you. It's a matter of owning up to a fuck-up, pure and simple.

Okay, this alone is probably the reason why this thread is locked; Unnecessary, spammy posts from the peanut gallery.
Most of the staff is discussing this in private anyhow, but if any other mod would like to chime in here (especially an admin or so, since we have like 2 others), they can also post here as necessary since our mod powers let us do stuff like posting in locked threads.
If noodleknight would like to further discuss this, we can definitely take it to PM's.
