If a producer wanted someone to audition for a character, is it alright for the producer hire that person again on a later date after they send their character demo?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but sure?

If the person audition for the role and got it, would it be okay for the producer to hire that person on another day when the producer is ready? Sorry I messed up on that part.

... Do you mean hiring them for a different role later on, or simply delaying notification that the actor has received the role they auditioned for?

I meant if something like this would happen: The person that auditioned for the character got the role and the producer calls or mails them on a different day, let's say a few days or next week, to officially start voicing the character.

Yes, that's fine.
You can scout a VA and brief him or her on your project, and when the time is right, get started with said VA. Could be a day, could be a week, could be a month. It's perfectly fine to "inform" then in advance about what you'll be doing.
