I am reposting this here for the sake of voiceover artists and ANYONE with job skills they would want to use for freelance, in regards to this site.

Attention all voiceover artists and friends: DO NOT USE FREELANCER.COM - Your time, effort, and money are not safe there, even after you've been 'paid'. It is in your BEST INTEREST to read this Support Team chat I just finished, so that you understand the kind of risk you are taking.

I have just been 'chargebacked' and am in $105 of debt to the site as a result of a client skimping off with the money he ALREADY PAID ME. There is nothing in place to prevent this happening or rectify it. You use Freelancer.com at your OWN FINANCIAL RISK.

Or the press, 'cause I do know of websites out there that've exposed Paypal/Yelp icky-ness via articles and whatnot.

All I needed to read was

Sean Chiplock: Why does the Milestone system allow clients/employers to, apparently, reverse Milestone Payments they've released to talents at any time they wish? As an escrow system designed to protect the value of the client's money and the talents' work, doesn't that defeat the entire purpose of it being a 'secure defense' against theft and scamming?
Arlyne: When a user reverse their payment from their funding source like Paypal, the funds will pulled out of the account.

That made me too mad to even bother to read the rest.

I sat and thought about it... While artists who do commissions tend to have a defense against this by placing a giant watermark over the entire picture to make it fairly unusable but still provide its talent. What can voice actors do to defend against this?

Only thing i came up with, was putting a weak background music that would otherwise ruin any drama if they tried to include it. :/
