I was thinking of replacing my AT2020 mic with the new "Blue Yeti Pro" since I can't seem to solve the "closed in" sound I keep getting with the AT2020.
Does anyone else have it? I've seen a lot of reviews for it, and it seems like an awesome package deal for what it is.

I use a Blue Yeti and it's great but the stand it comes with is VERY heavy.

Good thing that heavy stand prevents it from tipping over.

I've now gone from using the Blue Yeti, to an XLR condenser mic called the Blue Baby Bottle, run through a Digidesign MBox 2. Damn good mic.

I use two different mics depending on the application. 1. Electrovoice RE-20 Dynamic Microphone 2. Rode NTK Tube Condenser Microphone
Both I usually run into my Great River MP-NV500 Mic pre amp before going into my Fireface 800....yeah it's a big setup.

What have been your experiences of Blue-brand microphones with Windows 7?
I'm running 64-bit and hear conflicting stories about compatibility issues with Yeti's and Snowballs. They work perfectly, they don't work at all, they don't work but wil do with a driver tweak.

I use the Blue Snowball.
Sounds good to me, but I think I need some soundproofing to make it better.

Right, thanks for the quick reply, I have no doubts about the quality of the mics except for the sensitivity to computer noise and other background interference if it's too close. But what operating system do you use the Snowball on, if it's windows 7, did you have any problems setting it up?

You're kind of SOL then. You can get an acceptable Desktop (never headset) Logitech mic that can sound okay, but, compared to a real mic, they're not all that good.
They just don't possess the ability to really absorb the full sound that is the human voice, and, on a cheap microphone, even forgetting all the noise inherent...
You'll always end up sounding like you're recording over a cell phone. You know how shitty everything sounds on cell phones.
