 Dead Rising:Review
« Thread Started on Oct 30, 2006, 11:00pm »

In Dead Rising you assume the role of Frank West freelance photojournalist, Frank gets a hot tip, that something is going down in a little town called Willamette in Colorado, Frank is taken by helicopter, as the roads leading to the town have been blockaded and the town itself has been quarantined by the National Guard. Flying overhead, he notices what appears to be a brutal riot, including multiple murders and a gas station blowing up. Approaching the Willamette mall, Frank reminds Ed, his pilot to return to pick him up in exactly 72 hours, Frank then jumps onto the mall's roof.

The main objective of the game is to remain alive for at least 3 days, you could baseically beat the game by leaveing Frank on the helipad for the 72 Hours time slot (6 real-time hours) but im sure you dont want to do that do you?

As the journalist you are, you can choose to try to uncover the truth behind the zombie epidemic through unlocking a series of "case files" Which advances the story, or you can just start killing hordes of zombies, it's your choice.

The gameplay consists of saveing survivor, killing zombies and psychopaths, and advanceing the story (if you want), i found some of the escort missions to be quite frustrating becuase the AI of the survivors seem to be lacking, most of the Boss battles seem to be just to easy and went by disappointingly fast, when playing through the story mood be ready to restart the game plenty of times, you start the game with four bars of health and a little space to keep your items, but every time you kill a zombie, take pictures or save survivors you gain PP which gives you new attack moves and increases your health and item slots, the save system in the game is a little weird, your only allowed one save in the whole game, so if you save at the wrong time and cant make it to a case in time, its time to restart the game again, though you do get a lot of auto saves after the 24 hour hump (2 real-time hours), the music in the game really fits well in the environment of the game, i just love killing hordes of zombies while listening to that generic elevator music playing in the background, and last but not least the zombies, it never seems to get old killing the zombies that infest the mall of Willamette, haveing over 250 items to kill them with.

My rating 9.5
