 Lucasfilm Bought By Disney
« Thread Started on Oct 30, 2012, 7:31pm »

Guess what that means, folks...

If you guessed that they'd expand the original series, you are most likely right.

Disney is known for its love of sequels, so it's not too far off to assume that a Star Wars: Episode VII is going to be film.

I have a love/hate relationship with the series, myself.

I adore the original trilogy (so much so that I STILL regard Episodes IV, V and VI as a trilogy), but the prequels were extremely disappointing.
What's more, I love the universe that was created and expanded upon, bringing us awesome games and books. These projects, however, are based upon a history established by the prequel films. It kind of leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Anyways, if another Star Wars film is being made, I don't know why. As I've said, a reality has been created in the novels and games. And as much as we'd like to believe it, the material in this purported film may not follow such realities. That's Hollywood. In the worst case scenario, the film will not be considered canon, but that's just ridiculous.

If Disney is to release anything related to Star Wars (which they will, obviously), my best hope is in a new story with an entire generation of new characters.

Or to reboot the prequels. I wouldn't mind that, either.

I've always imagined Grim Fandango as a stop-motion film. It's got a Burton-esque feel to it.
A noir-ish Burton film actually sounds pretty fucking awesome.
And LucasFilm is actually the parent of LucasArts, so...
It's far off, yes, but not TOO far off.

I think that having new management take care of things from here on out should be beneficial for Star Wars because well... it's not an unpopular opinion to think that George Lucas is the worst thing to ever happen to his own franchise.

This has crossed my mind as well.
Disney may do a disservice to the franchise... but nothing can be worse than what Lucas was doing.

Seriously.

Makes just as much sense some of the other cameos.

Like Tron.

An adaptation of Loom by Pixar, please.

Well, given Disney's recent run with adventure live action flicks, I'm less than optimistic about the "sequel trilogy". Though Tron Legacy is the exception, that movie was awesome.

What? It'll be an original story? As in it'll be detached from the last two trilogies? This could be interesting.

The sequel is going to be detached, as only roughly being related to the main story or have nothing to do with it?

THANK YOU.
I was beginning to think I was the only one. Keeping my eye on Joseph Kosinski, he looks promising.

Anyways, I don't think it's been established whether or not the new titles will be called "Episodes VII, VIII, IX". I sure hope not.

Then again, I'd prefer that over that Clone Wars film. If that film was created just to introduce the TV show, why not make it for-TV? It just doesn't make any sense.
