TL;DR - I need mostly male VA's for my upcoming visual novel.

Hello everyone!

I'll start first by defining a visual novel and otome -

VISUAL NOVEL: is a work of interactive fiction, featuring mostly static graphics, most often using anime style art or occasionally live-action stills (and sometimes video footage). As the name might suggest, they resemble mixed-media novels or tableu vivant stage plays, They are analogous to a digitized version of a Choose Your Own Adventure novel.

Otome- a japanese word literally translating to maiden or young lady, and is a genre in japan focused on romantic visual novels.

Ibegan this project because there are so many of these types of VN's that I love but are not localised to english, I wanted to create something for the romance and VN enthusiasts like me and so Dragon's Blood (aka Seer) was born. You play the role of a young girl whose life is turned upside down by one of her own predictions, there are many choices to make during the game and each one affects the lives of those around you right to the end.

If you're still with me at this point (heh) the reason I am posting this is because all the best VN's I have read have all been voiced, (albeit in Japanese) and I feel that it gives the story more meaning and push, when you can actually HEAR the emotions that are being conveyed on the screen.

This is an experiment - I am not yet sure if I will end up using the voices in the end, I just wanted to see the interest and if it would actually work. I would LOVE for it to be voiced, but in a project like this you need a good emotional range which brings me to-

Please only audition if you are willing to say mushy stuff~

This audition is for mostly the male Love Interests, though there are smaller bit parts.

It is a romance based visual novel after all so there will be kissing and lovey dovey, also you will need to know how to make fighting and grunting sounds such as -ngh! mmf! that sort of thing.
I guess it'd be pretty much the same if you were doing a fan dub for an anime or such.

I think that is everything for now, so I'll move onto the details and characters, if I think of anything in the mean time I'll edit this post, and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

Audition deadline - I am hoping to have the scripts finished by October (writing main plot plus 6 romances and all the branching choices could take a while) so September 30 at the latest

Characters - For the moment I don't really know how they will all sound, so everyone is free to audition, when I hear a voice I think suits I will go with that, any descrptions I have added are just a guide, there may be someone I hear that doesn't sound like that but I think will be perfect.

MC - Not voiced:Evangeline (Eva) The Seer

Age: 21

Height: 5’6

Fighting style: learns to fight with magic

Back story: At the age of 8 her Seer powers began to manifest and she was taken in to The Order to hone her craft. She forsaw the downfall of her brother the Dragon Prince the novel is based on her escaping him although she does not remember that he is her brother. <br>The top part of her face is covered at all times to protect her identity.

Personality: hopefully not mary-sue, she is fierce and loyal and wants to do the right thing.

Gideon Grey

Age: 25

Height: 6’4

Fighting type: brawler/hand to hand

Back story: Gideon was tasked with protecting the Seer at the age of 13, he was willingly blinded for the job as no man may ever look upon the Seer’s face. The white sash that covers his eyes is a distinctive marker to his position. He would die to protect the Seer and is fiercely loyal.

Personality: Loyal, fair and kind.

Rein Blackheart

Age: 19 (youngish looking, not quite a man)

Height: 5’9

Fighting type: Fire mage

Backstory: Rein’s father sends him to the temple to learn about a prophecy that involves their family, he travels with Sebastian who owes a life debt to his father.

Personality: Arrogant, selfish and boisterous, he learns to tone it down as the story progresses.

Voice - Boyant, boistrous, young sounding but on the verge of being a man.

Sebastian

Age: 26

Height: 5’11

Fighting style: Swords man

Back story: Rein’s father saved his life when he was a young man, he was tasked with travelling with Rein until the debt is repaid.

Personality: quiet, broody, gruff but has a gentle heart.

Voice - Deep, thats really the only thing he MUST have.

Andrick Evers

Age: 23

Height: 6’0

Fighting style: archer

Back story: Andrik is a wanderer, travelling from town to town selling his skills as an archer, be it as a mercenary or hunter.

Personality: easy going, flirt, doesn’t take things seriously.

Aito

Age: 28

Height: 5’10

Fighting style: ninja assassin type, uses daggers.

Back story: Aito has served the Dragon Prince his whole life, he was brought up in a secret sect that is feared by many and are the personal body guards to the royal family.

Personality: cruel, broody, loyal.

voice - Gravelly, low, needs to sound like a ninja!

Castiel Cartarian – The Dragon Prince

Age: 21

Height: 5’6

Fighting style: swordsman with dragon magic

Back story: Castiel is the Seer’s twin brother and heir to the throne. They were parted at a young age when she told the prophecy of his death. <br>He is trying to capture her to stop it coming to pass but in doing so sets it all in motion.

Personality: Arrogant, conceited, looks down on others, no redeeming traits.

Other-

Spirit Child - Age unknown and gender neutral, this child shows up in Eva's visions to guide her, must obviously sound young.

Handmaiden - generic filler character, female voice

Soldier - generic filler character, male voice.

Here is a small demo of the game, including prologue and 1/2 chapters, it only introduces 4 of the main characters.

Please keep in mind that ALL images (backgrounds, character sprites etc) are FILLER for the demo and will NOT be used in the finished product

This demo includes full prologue and Chapter 1/2 with each decision branching to a different path, allowing for maximum replayabilty.

Extract the whole folder to somewhere on your computer, I recommend Desktop and then just click on the Seer Demo icon inside the folder.

Your sprite will look like the character art above. Please play the demo to understand what is going on and then choose from the character audition lines below. Try going back and playing it through a few times to see what the different paths are, there is a skip button in the bottom right hand corner if you dont feel like reading everything over again.

AUDITION LINES:

GIDEON
line 1: Good morning my Lady, running late again I see. (pleasant, warm, smile in the voice)
line 2: My lady! Follow me quickly! (quiet and controlled but urgent)
line 3: Care to test that theory? (hurt pride, put out)
line 4: If you touch her, not even death will keep me from you! (angry, ready to kill)

SEBASTIAN:
Line 1: Lord Rein, please lower your voice. (Sebastian usually sounds monotone or bored, so just go with that for everything unless otherwise indicated)
Line 2: Lord Rein... (slightly exasperated, warningly)
Line 3: Lord Rein, this man...He wears the symbol of the Dragon Prince.
Line 4: I only did my duty (a bit gruff, trying not to sound embarrassed)

REIN:
Line 1: You there, girl! Are you familiar with the Seer? I need to see her straight away (arrogant, self important)
Line 2: It's two against one, do you really want to know how this is going to end? (Arrogant, cocky)
Line 3: What the hell, I'm not one to back down from a challenge! (smiling, assent)
Line 4: To hell with that! Just attack! ( annoyed, petulant)

AITO:
Line 1: Why not? Bunch of incompetants, I knew the prince should have sent me alone. (Annoyed, exasperated)
Line 2: Pssh, I could smell you a mile away mutt, your order has quite the distinct scent. (condescending, amused)
Line 3: I'm sorry, I'd love to stay and play, but I really don't have the time. (airy, condescending, over it.)
Line 4: And what will you do for me if I do? (creepy, flirty)

ANDRICK:
Line 1: Nope, nothing to do with me, just passing through. (very meh, if you understand my meaning xD )
Line 2: You're pretty dim aren't you, you kinda stand out like a sore thumb. (surprised, condescending)
Line 3: Well, we could pretend to be lovers if you think that'll help...(grinning, teasing)
Line 4: I haven't had this much fun in a long time, I think I'll tag along. (grinning, genuine)

CASTIEL:
Line 1: The girl is my twin you idiot, we look practically the same. (condescending, fed up, bored)
Line 2: This hurts me more than it hurts you, oh wait...(after stabbing his sister, grinning, gleeful, sarcastic)
Line 3: We are not the same! (angry, annoyed)
Line 4: I am so, so sorry...(upset, bewildered,)

CHILD:
Line 1: He's going to hurt me, please, you have to help! (scared, sad, alone)
Line 2: Beware the snake, it's poison is fatal to both ally and foe (calm, prophetic)
Line 3: Not hell...a limbo of sorts. (trying to explain)

HANDMAIDEN:
Line 1: My Lady, may I come in? (enquiring)
Line 2: Why are you still abed my lady? it's almost time for prayers! (surprised, scolding)

SOLDIER:
Line 1: Hey! (spotted the enemy running away, act accordingly)
Line 2: Yes sir! Sorry sir! (scared, cowed)
Line 3: A disturbance at the edge of camp sir, seems we have three intruders. (stating fact, conveying orders as a soldier would)

what program did you use to create these drawing? Are you using a program to move the characters? i've created my own manga and characters and wanted to know what program to use for them to become an anime. sorry i'm trying to explain myself. and later on get voice actors to voice them.

They aren't animated, there will be sprites with several different expressions that will transition between each, I used Ren'Py visual novel engine to create the gameplay.

This looks absolutely lovely. I only wish there were more female roles, haha. But I'll send in my audition soon for what's available for me.

Yes, not many female roles in this, and they are tiny ones because Eva doesn't have a voice, if I add any in I will let everyone know

Here it is guys, the cast list for my visual novel Dragon's Blood.

Thank you to everyone who auditioned, there was so much good quality that it was very hard to choose, but in the end I had to go with the voices I thought suited the characters best.

If this project is successful there will be more in the future, so if you didn't get a part this time then be sure to try out for the next one!
