Hello everyone! I've recently begun working on an e-book on how to get into Internet voice acting, tips and tricks, making a reel, looking for projects, etc. I was just wondering if any of you had specific topics or questions you would like to see addressed in the book?

I guess one would be how to cope with illness close to an audition or deadline, naturally covering blocked airways and sore throats. If there are any quick fix and/or miracle remedies then I think people will want to know.

I think that maybe you could share what it was like talking about "getting serious" regarding what you think is a legitimate career path with your parents or friends. I know some people who I think have potential at voice over if they worked at it but get resistance from those around them who think it's stupid, ESPECIALLY from their parents. I can relate to that, as well.

Conditioning, taking care of your voice, exercises on how to improve voice quality. First few times I did some recordings, I was surprised to find it was exhausting, especially after about a few hours non-stop in front of the mic.

You got worn out after a few hours? Lucky you! Reading for certain things aloud for a few minutes made me feel like I was melting.
But uh... yeah, that's something that could be addressed.

If you could talk in detail about how to show emotion in a voice that would be great!

You could talk about vocal and mic technique. Like how to breathe properly, how far to be away from the microphone. Maybe how to up your quality without buying a crazy expensive mic.
Possibly a fandub section could be of interest to some people as a lot of beginners have trouble with lip-syncing the lines with that kind of thing.
Personally I'd like to see a section on creating original character voices since it'd be useful for flash animations and original audio works.

I don't think it would be wise to discuss fandubbing. Fandubbing is technically illegal in most cases and no offense to the people who are passionate about it or anything, but mentioning that in the text would probably come off as very amateurish.

In the 7 years leading up to my first TV anime role, I'd done 2 fandubs and about 3 karaoke sessions. The karaoke ended up being more valuable in preparing me to dub in a professional environment.
I could write several essays simply about the ways in which I've found fandubbing to be severely detrimental to the growth of many aspiring young talents who give it far too much focus.

It's more about choices. Less about voices.---- ![[image] [image]](http://i.imgur.com/E4OAH.png) ![[image] [image]](http://i.imgur.com/bS6NA.png) ![[image] [image]](http://i.imgur.com/it4jL.png) Newgrounds VAC since Day 1. And your wily veteran since August 30th, 2005. |

I don't know if this will be of any help or not but I regurgitated a bunch of stuff about voice acting into a notepad and put it up here!

Thanks for the feedback so far!
Yeah, I mention fandubbing briefly, but I don't want to focus on it too much for...well, the various reasons mentioned.

Perhaps something about transitioning from the amateur to the professional would be great to include. A guide on how to get oneself out in the world of Voice Acting and becoming known enough to begin taking payed work.

This may be a "Duh" Comment but Perhaps some Exercises dealing with Range and a Section on body Language (Getting into Character) I've found both these to be Detrimental, I'm no Expert but if it helped me I'm sure others can benefit
